Martín García García (Gijón, 1996) is considered one of the pianists with the greatest international projection. At 26, he has obtained two very important awards as the first prize at ‘2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition’ and the third prize and best concerto award at ‘XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition’ in Warsaw. In the latter case, Martín has been the first Spaniard to reach the final of the most relevant piano event worldwide, achieved previously by Maurizio Pollini, Krystian Zimerman or Martha Argerich. García García has offered more than 70 performances during 2022 in Asia, United States, Europe, and Spain. Notably, his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and a successful tour of Japan, attended by more than 25,000 spectators in 14 performances. He has also published his first album ‘Chopin and His Master’, produced by the artist himself.
Martín García García has given concerts as a soloist in venues around Europe and United States, receiving very positive reviews from musicians and pianists of the stature of Vladimir Kraniev, Dmitri Alexeev, Arcadi Volodos, Dimitri Bashkirov, Joaquín Achúcarro or Tatiana Copeland (Sergei Rachmaninov’s grandniece), among others. He has won first prize in several national and international competitions, highlighting his victory at ‘2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition’ and his 3rd Prize at ‘XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition’ (and the special award for the Best Concerto), the most relevant competition on the world stage.
Martín García García is graduated from Reina Sofía School of Music, he studied there for more than a decade with Galina Eguiazarova -receiving from Her Majesty the Queen Sofía the prize for the Best Student of the chair-, he is also Master in Piano by Mannes School of Music in New York. He began his musical studies at the age of 5, with his teachers Natalia Mazoun and Ilyà Goldfarb. Before he was 12, he had already been awarded first prize at numerous national and international competitions as 2005 Piano Junior in Barcelona; 2006 Antón García Abril in Teruel; 2006 Santa Cecilia Prize in Segovia; 2008 City of San Sebastian; 2008 Rotary International in Moscow; or 2008 Permanent Competition of Musical Youth of Spain in Alcalá de Henares.
2022 has been an extraordinary turning point in his career with more than 70 concerts all over the world, performing in symbolic places for the world of music like the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo or the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid. In addition, he has released his first album ‘Chopin and His Master’, produced by the artist and recorded at Fazioli piano factory in Sacile (Italy). It includes works by Bach, Chopin, Liszt, and Scriabin. He recorded the repertoire developed during the 21/22 season. The album available on digital platforms (Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer) and physically sold only in Japan (Nippon Arts).
Martín faces 2023 with special enthusiasm, year in which he will visit a large part of the world music scene. He will return in March to Cleveland -almost two years after getting the first prize at Cleveland International Piano Competition-, as well as performing in California and Canada in April. There will be many new apparitions in Spain, where he will perform in numerous new cities throughout the year and will return to Japan twice. Finally, it’s worth noting that he will debut with orchestras such as the Hamburger Symphoniker of Germany or the NHK of Japan.
Martin García García, who feels a sense of responsibility and service to humanity, reduces his challenges to each concert. No matter the size of the venue or audience, he understands there is a deep content to offer to each person who has decided to come and listen to him.
